Twenty-three plus years across mortgage lending, underwriting, origination, and credit analysis. Previously Vice President at Goldman Sachs and Bank of America.

Twenty-three plus years of mortgage credentials, applied where Texas homebuyers actually need them.
Background and Experience
Byron has more than 23 years of experience in mortgage lending, underwriting, origination, and operational management. He held Vice President level roles at Goldman Sachs and Bank of America. Before that, he was a Senior Underwriter at MGIC, where mortgage credit files from across the country crossed his desk every week.
His real world expertise covers mortgage underwriting, credit analysis, jumbo lending, and the more complex financing structures most buyers never have to think about.
After reviewing thousands of mortgage files, Byron reached a conclusion most buyers never hear: the biggest obstacle to homeownership often isn’t credit, income, or the down payment. It’s information. Many buyers assume they need far more saved than they really do, or believe their credit isn’t good enough, and most never learn that down payment assistance, grants, or a tax credit could help them get there.
He also watched qualified buyers work with lenders who simply don’t offer those programs, so they never got to weigh every option. That is why he built ShopDPA: to help Texans understand the programs they may qualify for and connect with mortgage professionals who put education before the sale. Before you can choose the right path, you have to know what your options are.
What He Does for Texas Homebuyers
Throughout his career, Byron has helped borrowers navigate a wide range of mortgage scenarios. Educating clients on programs and options before they sign anything. Structuring mortgage solutions for situations that don’t fit a generic mold. Creating clear roadmaps from “I’d like to buy a home” to “we just got the keys.”
For Texas buyers in particular, that means walking through TSAHC, TDHCA, MCC, VLB, and the layered down payment structures most loan officers would call too complicated. Byron treats those as problems worth solving, not deals worth walking away from.
How He Keeps ShopDPA Accurate
Every program guideline, income limit, assistance amount, and eligibility requirement on this site is reviewed against the agency or organization administering the program. TSAHC, TDHCA, HUD, VA, IRS, the Texas Veterans Land Board, and the county and city housing authorities across Texas.
His experience across underwriting, operations, and front line mortgage production is what lets ShopDPA give Texas homebuyers practical, trustworthy guidance built around how lending actually works, not how it’s marketed.
If anything on this site is wrong, Byron wants to know. The site is only useful if it’s right.
