What Buyers Should Know

Leander ISD is one of the highest-rated districts in Texas (~42,000 students across 6 high schools), serving Cedar Park, Leander, parts of Austin (northwest), and unincorporated west Williamson + north Travis. Cedar Park HS, Leander HS, Vandegrift HS, Vista Ridge HS, Rouse HS, and Glenn HS anchor the district.

TSAHC’s Homes for Texas Heroes program lists five public school roles: full-time classroom teachers, teacher aides, school librarians, school counselors, and school nurses. Leander ISD employees in those roles may qualify for down payment and closing cost help of up to 5% of the loan amount, with no first-time-buyer requirement, and a 2026 income limit of about $228,480 in Williamson County, at any household size.

School jobs outside those five, such as administrators and support staff, aren’t on TSAHC’s Heroes list, but those employees may still qualify for Home Sweet Texas, which offers the same kind of assistance with a Williamson County limit of about $201,600. First-time buyers may also be able to add a Mortgage Credit Certificate.
